Ready when you are
Send us your drawings today
Whether it’s five pieces or a run in the hundreds of thousands, our Swiss machines are built to run it complete, in one set up.
Capabilities
Hard-to-make parts, start to finish
Complex, close-tolerance components machined complete in one set up — no secondary operations, no re-fixturing, no tolerance stack-up.
4-axis simultaneous machining
A sliding headstock feeds the rotating workpiece through a collet and guide bushing, right at the cutting tool. Static and rotating side- and end-working tools cut the part as it feeds — with the workpiece transferable between main and back spindles to machine both ends complete in one chucking.

Why Choose Us
Built for the parts other shops call tough
Single-setup, one-chucking machining
Every feature — both ends of the part — is machined complete in one chucking, so there's no re-fixturing and no tolerance stack-up between operations.
Swiss only, no secondary operations
Northern Precision has no equipment to perform secondary operations. Swiss machining is all we do, which is exactly why we've built our process around it.
Long-part deflection control
Parts with a length-to-diameter ratio greater than 5:1 run without deflection — geometry that would make a conventional lathe struggle.
Bar loaders and high-pressure coolant
LNS America bar loaders suspend stock in oil to control whipping at up to 10,000 rpm, and CoolBlaster 2,000 psi coolant clears chips during deep-hole drilling.
25+ years of "it can be done"
Founded in 1999, Northern Precision has built its name on the hard-to-make parts other shops call tough — in a single machine, in a single set up.
Industries We Serve
Small, complex, and has to be right
From fiber optics to sporting goods — if the part is small, intricate and close-tolerance, it’s the kind of work we machine. Select an industry to see what matters most.

Fiber Optics
Fiber-optic connectors and ferrules are miniature, concentricity-critical parts where a few ten-thousandths of runout can degrade a signal path.
- Tight concentricity and bore-to-OD alignment, held in a single chucking so nothing shifts between operations
- Miniature diameters that need a sliding headstock's close-in tool support to avoid deflection
- Consistent, repeatable dimensions across long production runs so connector fit doesn't drift lot to lot
Process We Follow
From print to finished part
- 1
RFQ & Print Review
Send drawings, quantity, material and tolerance requirements — the same fields on our Request For Quote form.
- 2
Programming & Setup
Job-specific tooling and process setup for the Citizen L20 CNC Swiss machines — no one-size-fits-all program.
- 3
Swiss Machining, One Chucking
Complex, multi-feature parts machined complete in a single set up, with no secondary operations.
- 4
In-Process Verification
Tolerances — down to ±0.0005" — are monitored through the run, not just checked at the end.
- 5
Delivery
Parts ship complete, from prototype quantities of a handful of pieces to production lots in the hundreds of thousands.
Quality Criteria
What “quality” means on our floor
- A
Tolerances held, not just stated
We routinely hold tolerances to ±0.0005" on critical features, and monitor tolerance through the run rather than relying solely on final inspection.
- B
One chucking, full accountability
Machining every feature in a single set up removes the re-fixturing and hand-offs that let variation creep in between operations.
- C
The customer print is the standard
Every job gets its own tooling and process setup driven by the print in front of us — no one-size-fits-all program applied to a part it wasn't built for.
- D
Consistency from piece one to piece last
The same discipline applies whether the order is five prototype pieces or a run of 160,000 — quality doesn't drift with volume.

Quality Practices
How we hold quality on every part
We don’t publish a certification badge for practices you can verify in the parts themselves. Here’s what we document and hold ourselves to on the floor.

Common questions
We run everything from prototype quantities to large production lots — one job might be five pieces, another 160,000. Most orders fall in the 1,000 to 10,000 piece range, but don't let a small or large quantity stop you from asking for a quote.
